KS2 Oracy Unit 5: Good Thinking, Good Talking | Reasons + Evidence
One little word turns opinions into reasons: BECAUSE. Children learn that talk is thinking out loud - giving reasons, explaining step by step, using simple evidence and changing minds politely - ending in a talk-to-solve challenge on a real classroom problem. One pack, three ways to teach it: a Launch Assembly (script + deck), six no-prep Quick Talk sessions (10-15 min) and six Full Lessons (40-45 min), all with decks. The six sessions: 1) The because habit 2) Explain it well 3) Show me the evidence 4) What do YOU think? 5) Changing minds politely 6) The talk-to-solve challenge. Also included: Teacher Guide, dyslexia-friendly Knowledge Organiser, Pupil Oracy Log and a References & Acknowledgements page. Builds early reasoning and critical thinking alongside talk. Aligned to the Oracy Skills Framework (Voice 21 & Oracy Cambridge, University of Cambridge; (c) Voice 21 and the University of Cambridge, 2018), an openly published framework.
